Who I am
I am a Staff Scientist at QC Ware, working since April 2026. Before that I was a Research Associate at the Matter Lab, University of Toronto, working with Professor Alán Aspuru-Guzik in the Department of Computer Science and Chemistry. My work focuses on AI for science, especially AI agents and machine learning for drug discovery and self-driving laboratories, alongside near-term quantum computing algorithms.
My current interests are AI agents for scientific discovery, machine learning, quantum-inspired optimization, quantum computing and quantum machine learning. With colleagues, I have worked on AI agents that automate scientific computing, the El Agente systems for quantum simulation and quantum chemistry, and on orchestration software for self-driving laboratories. You can read about them on the research page and in the agentic AI for science article.
I am also interested in applying the Variational Quantum Eigensolver (VQE) and the Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) to complex optimization problems in industry, and in using quantum-inspired models for real-world problems in finance and machine learning.
Before this, my Ph.D. work was on distributed algorithms for the Internet of Things to optimize factory manufacturing. That background shapes how I see quantum computing: as a technology that can optimize industrial processes and reduce energy consumption. I envision quantum technologies playing a key role in manufacturing, an era I call Industry 5.Q, after quantum, the successor to Industry 4.0.
